The Bolete side table. A serendipitous pairing of elements defined through two separate means of practice. The base, a natural granite boulder with cut and polished ends. The top, a heavily worked piece of timber. Both coming together to make this curiously organic object.
Henry d’ath is a New Zealand-born, Hong Kong-based artist and architect.
Using predominantly salvaged material, the artist routinely handworks each piece over many months resulting in lucid, yet ambiguously functional pieces of sculpture.
Each work in this current collection is an individual edition in an ongoing series, hand-made by the artist themselves.

The Gallery stool. A sculptural modern organic side table/stool turned from a solid block of macrocarpa (Monterey Cypress). The wood is finished with a hand rubbed, low V.O.C., natural plant oils to bring the stunning grain to life.
The macrocarpa wood will continue to dry out as it finds its equilibrium moisture content of its new environment. Further movement and splits should be expected, and this is part of the wabi-sabi design of the Gallery side tables.
