Brass and Wood Sculpted Stool by Leandro Garcia Contemporary Brazil Design

About the Item

Brass and wood sculpted stool by Leandro Garcia Materials: Cylindrical wood legs (dark color), wooden seat (light color), and polished brass hoops Dimensions: 40 x 40 x 40 cm The Linhas (“Lines”) stool is composed by three cylindrical solid wood legs, ending in half-spheres. The equidistant legs are held together by two polished brass hoops. The rounded seat is also in solid wood and it’s supported by metallic dowels fixed on the top of the legs. The stool makes a counterpoint between the materiality of the Brazilian woods and the lightness of the parallel metallic lines, as a result, we have a simple and sophisticated piece. Leandro Garcia Contrary to a general trend of large-scale production and homogenization, he develops unique and exclusive designs. His creative process claims on rational and functional solutions that explore the essence of shapes in the conception of the object and/or space. Leandro Garcia seeks to develop a timeless aesthetic, which translates into the disposal of excess and the exploration of primordial spatial matters such as proportion, light and shadow, materials and textures. The detail is essential, being directly connected to the design artwork. Architect and urban-planer graduated from the university “Universidade do Grande ABC (UniABC)”, Leandro Garcia began his studies in the area over 25 years ago, when attended technical school in Civil Engineering Drawing (ETE Julio de Mesquita). Still in university, he received an honorable mention at the International Competition of Architecture Schools from the 4th International Biennial of Architecture. He collaborated with two important Brazilian offices, receiving several national and international prizes. At first he worked with the designer Marcelo Rosenbaum and then with the renowned architect Isay Weinfeld. The architect was also professor at Campo Real College, at Centro Europeu and at ISAE/FGV. Nowadays, he directs his own studio, which develops residential, commercial and institutional architecture projects, and also interior and furniture design. Many of these projects have been published in different Brazilian and foreign magazines, and products presented in several editions of the Milan Design Week and commercialized nationally and internationally. He is also a professor at the Tuiuti University of Paraná (UTP) and the British School of Creative Arts (EBAC).
