French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Onyx, Ormolu and Cloisonné Side Table/Pedestal
About the Item
A stunning French 19th century Louis XVI st. Belle Époque period Onyx, ormolu, and Cloisonné side table/pedestal column. The table is raised by a square onyx base with an elegant mottled border and striking scrolled foliate ormolu paw feet. The socle-shaped support at the center displays an exceptional and most decorative Cloisonné band with beautiful colorful designs and lovely foliate movements. The lightly tapered circular central support leads up the elegantly curved fluted ormolu top cap with a fine wrap-around beaded band. The square top showcases the stunning Onyx grain framed within a superb wrap-around ormolu gallery at the border with spectacular intricately detailed Cloisonné designs with richly chased foliate ormolu mounts at the corners. Can also be used as a pedestal.
