Georgian 18th Century Mahogany Drop Flap Side Table

About the Item

A Very Good Quality Mid-18th century, Georgian, Chippendale Period. Mahogany Side Table Having Well Figured Rectangular Top With Unusual Hinged Drop Flap To Back, Over One Long Frieze Drawer Retaining Original Brass Open Plate Handle, Raised On Four Square Chamfered Legs With Attractive Carved And Moulded Decoration, Retaining Exceptional Rich Colour And Patina Throughout. This rather lovely little 18th century side table has a few additional features which lift it above the norm for the period. The first and most obvious of those is of course the hinged drop flap to the back. This is something which is both incredibly unusual, but at the same time incredibly useful, allowing you to near enough double the available table top space when utilised. The table is also constructed from very good quality, solid mahogany timbers which have retained their colour and gained good patina over the many years of its life. It is both incredibly functional due to the solidity of its timbers and construction, whilst at the same time being incredibly beautiful and elegant to look at. The attractive decoration to the legs is yet another unusual feature which really lifts the table. As with all items we offer for sale it has received an inspection and natural wax polish from our highly skilled, traditional antique furniture restorers before being offered for sale, meaning that it is ready for immediate placement into the home or office. circa 1760.
