About the Item

This pair of 1960s bedside tables, model "Casino" by Gunnar Myrstrand and Sven Engström for Tingströms, Sweden, is made of beautiful rosewood with brass details. They are in very good vintage condition, with signs of use and age that add to their charm and character. These elegant tables are a perfect addition to any vintage-inspired or mid-century modern home. Gunnar Myrstrand was a Swedish furniture designer and architect, known for his collaboration with Sven Engström on a number of notable designs for Swedish companies including Nässjö Stolfabrik, Gemla Möbler AB, Skaraborg furniture industry, and Källemo. The two designers were also teachers in furniture design, and participated in several exhibitions, including the Helsingborg exhibition, H 55, where they showcased a room interior. They also worked with the Swedish Crafts Association as exhibition architects during the 1940s and 50s. Myrstrand was a talented and versatile designer, and represented Sweden at the Triennale in Milan in 1954. He also worked at Rörstrand's Porcelain Factory in Lidköping, and had his own architectural office in Stockholm.
