About the Item
Antique Adjustable Baker’s Rack & Folding Serving Table – c. 1880s–1890s (Attributed to Boeckh Brothers Company, Toronto, ON)
A rare and versatile example of late 19th-century Canadian utility furniture, this adjustable baker’s rack and serving table combination dates to the 1880s–1890s and is likely the work of Boeckh Brothers Company, Inc., a known manufacturer of high-quality metalwork and store fixtures based in Toronto, Ontario.
Crafted with a sturdy cast iron frame and five solid oak shelves. The rack may have originally used in a bakery or general store setting, its multi-functional design allows it to easily transition from a vertical display rack to a flat serving or prep table. The shelves are affixed to hinged metal arms that lock securely into place when upright, but can be quickly disengaged to tilt the shelves at an angle—or fold them flat—to suit a wide range of storage or presentation needs.
Whether used as a free-standing retail display, a kitchen island, or a folding prep station, this piece can serve multiple purposes. The black cast iron sides feature elegant scrollwork and curved feet, reflecting a subtle Victorian influence typical of utilitarian furnishings from the late 19th century.
This piece is in very good antique condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use, including light surface scuffs and small scratches on the wooden shelves and metal frame. All hinges and locking mechanisms are functional, and the structure is solid and stable.

• Rack configuration: 33” W x 22” D x 34.5” H
