About the Item
This stunning large scale painting represents a moodier side of the Memphis style revival of the 1980s. The strictly geometric composition rebukes narrative, instead inviting the viewer to cast their own script on the image. This painting conjures the feeling of movement through waving forms and tension between the various shapes. Jewel tones of red, silver, gold, green, blue and purple become electrified in the jet black space they inhabit. As they said, everything old eventually becomes new again. This 1980s throwback is even more relevant today as a younger generation embraces “Vaporwave” – a musical and visual style that reinvents popular 1980s motifs. Take a close look at the painting to see the rich texture in certain areas while others are sleek and smooth. The painting has a minimalist black wood frame and signed “Pak.”
