About the Item

An op-art wall sculpture created by Antonio Asis. This an amazing art piece created by the Argentinian op-art artist Antonio Asis. Made in a very limited edition of only fifteen pieces. He was an abstract kinetic artist Antonio Asis lives and works in Paris. In 1950 he obtained his doctorate degree from the National School of Fine Arts in Buenos, where he had been studying art since the age of 14. In 1944 Antonio Asis became involved with the publication of an Argentine arts magazine, Arturo, and he was one of the founder members of an art association in Buenos Aires, which after 1945 was an important city for artists who were involved in the development abstract art. Antonio Asís He was one of the protagonists of the Kinetic movement in Argentina. Having first studied at the National School of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires and then having worked closely with renowned artists such as Jesús Rafael Soto and Victor Vasarely in Paris, he centered his work on light and chromatic relations. Asís conducted his first artistic experiments with photograms, exploring the possibilities of monochrome in terms of the perception of movement in a static format. Even if he is better known for his Kinetic work through formal concentric interferences in painting and through grids in sculpture, among his most innovative contributions to the movement are the tactile fixtures of objects (usually spheres) on the canvas. Oriented towards interaction, these complements produced types of movement that did not presuppose an equivalence between sight and perception, as was common in Kinetic art, but that alluded to a wider conception of the latter that came to include the sense of touch. The systematic research of the reticule and movement led him to become a founding member of “Groupe Position” in 1971. It included other Argentinian artists living in Paris, and offered different approaches to Kinetic problems, from the mechanical and electrical intervention of the work to the pure development of color vibrations, where Asís found himself mid-way with his sculptural lattices. VICTOR VASARELY Paris 1960 Geometric Composition Ink on Rice Paper COA
By Victor Vasarely
Located in Miami, FL
Geometric composition in rice paper by Victor Vasarely (1906-1997). This is a fantastic geometric composition created in Paris France by the op-art artist Victor Vasarely. The piece of art has been realized in black ink on paper. Great piece of art with gorgeous provenance and professionally framed with UV glass. Victor Vasarely He is considered the father of the Op Art, artist and was born on April 9th, 1908 in Pécs, Hungary. Internationally recognized as one of the most important artists of the 20th century, his innovations in color and optical illusion have had a strong influence on many modern artists. Spanning most of his career, our collection of his prints and sculptures explores his forays into some of his most famous works such as the plastic alphabet and other iconic periods. In 1925, Vasarely was accepted into the University of Budapest’s School of Medicine where he attended for 2 years. Deciding that he wanted to take his life in a different direction, he enrolled in the Poldini-Volkman Academy of Painting in 1927. Though a medical education might have seemed superfluous compared to his new career in art, the time that Vasarely spent in medical school gave him a strong basis in scientific method and objectivity. This basis continued to manifest in his unique style of art. After the artist's first one-man show in 1930, at the Kovacs Akos Gallery in Budapest, Vasarely moved to Paris. For the next thirteen years, he devoted himself to graphic studies. His lifelong fascination with linear patterning led him to draw figurative and abstract patterned subjects, such as his series of harlequins, checkers, tigers, and of course the Vasarely zebras...
