About the Item
Abstract oil pastel drawing on acid-free paper titled 'Purple Alstro Bouquet, II' by Veronica Benning. The composition features a burnt orange and grey-toned background with a locus of muted purple and blue hues. Hand-signed and dated by the artist in the lower right corner, with an artist’s note on the verso. Presented matted in a textured frame. The piece is in good condition.
Veronica Ann Benning (1947-2013), based in Fort Myers, FL, was known for her pastel drawings mixed media paintings. She earned a BFA from Washington University and an MFA from Temple University’s Tyler School of Art. Benning taught painting at the Portland School of Art (now Maine College of Art) and the University of Southern Maine. After moving to Florida in 1993, she continued to paint regularly. Her work reflected her connection to the Maine landscape and her lifelong exploration of visual perception.
