This work is signed and dated "B. Aslanian 2016”, titled: “Le Jardin” verso of the canvas and signed B. Aslanian on recto; canvas size 30" high x 40” wide; framed 40.5” x 30.5” x 1” profile. The painting depicts Vintage Lazy Summer Day Gathering. Aslanian is a painter of striking individuality. Aslanian’s art depicts people sitting and gathering on their street near their home and enjoying summer.
Born in Alexandria in 1937, Bedros Aslanian began studying at the age of sixteen under Professor Silvio Bicchi and graduated from the Beaux Arts d'Alexandria in 1961. In 1965 Aslanian moved to Montreal. He currently spends time between his residences in Montreal and Greece. His canvases depict people and places, including the narrow streets of the Greek Islands and the vast landscapes of Quebec. His vibrant paintings are characterized by thick brush strokes which give dimension to the colors, creating an emotional impact. His works have been exhibited across Canada, the United States, Europe and Japan and can be found in private collections in Montreal, Athens and Paris.
