About the Item
Pair of early 20th Century Medici portraits hand-painted on carved wood wall plaques. The handmade panels have a black lacquered finish with gold leaf details and feature rounded corners with beveled borders. The floating center is surrounded by thick rounded beveling creating a three dimensional portrait.
These were custom commissioned artworks entitled "Medici Heads" created by Clifford Art Studios, who were known for reproducing the work of old masters and often sold their pieces to galleries and other retail outlets. Their creations often featured Baroque or Victorian themes, and they were known for their detailed and intricate designs.
The paintings feature prominent members of the Medici family who were a wealthy and influential family of Italian bankers and merchants who rose to prominence during the Italian Renaissance. The Medici's era of influence and power spanned from the early 15th century to the mid-18th century. The stunning set of wall panels are beautifully painted and all done by hand.
