About the Item
Porta Lancia" (2010) by Homar Hassan is a striking spray paint artwork that embodies the artist’s early exploration of aerosol techniques. At this stage of his career, Hassan was deeply influenced by street art, using spray cans to create dynamic compositions characterized by bold colors and energetic movement. Over time, his artistic practice evolved significantly. Moving away from traditional spray techniques, he developed his unique “Breaking Through” series, where he applies paint to the canvas through the physical act of boxing, punching the surface with pigment-covered gloves. This transition reflects his fusion of art and sport, emphasizing movement, strength, and personal expression in his work.

Omar Hassan
Omar Hassan graduated from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in 2010. After several group and solo exhibitions, he was invited by Vittorio Sgarbi, curator of the Italian Pavilion, to exhibit at the 54th Venice Biennale in 2011. Hassan has since taken part in solo exhibitions in the United States and Japan, alongside his many exhibitions in Italy. He developed a new technique for personal expression in the form of his boxing-inspired "Breaking Through" series which includes a performance element. Hassan boasts a long list of “street art” public commissions including One Wall at the Palazzo della Regione in Milan, Italy; the Museo Mille Miglia in Brescia, Italy; the Accademia delle Belle Arti Aldo Galli in Como, Italy; and Colour Cube in London’s Brick Lane. He is also featured alongside such artists as Banksy, Blek Le Rat, D*Face and Ben Eine in the definitive "Street Art London" edition by Frank Steam 156 Malt published in 2013.
