18th Century French Revolution Framed Madame De La Fayette Folding Evantail

About the Item

A 1789 French Revolution Patriotism fighting symbol by the famous french Comtess M De La Fayette. Révolution Française: M. de la Fayette offre ses armes à la France. 1789. With the painting of the comtess handing a sword to a soldier on his knees in a sign of respect. Written on it in French as " Le Patriotisme offre ses armes à la france par les mains de M. de la Fayette " and translates in English as "Patriotism offers its weapons to France through the Hands of Madame La Fayette". Framed in custom evantail fan giltwood framed with velvet lined. 18th Century original copy. Original in musee Carnavalet in Paris with No G.27042. The fan had a couple of tiny chips as seen on pictures before framing. Measures 22.75" in width, 3 in depth and 14.25" in height.
