Antique Honor Target with Fox and Ducks, Germany 1930s

About the Item

Antique Honor Target with Fox and Ducks, Germany 1930s An antique honor shooting target. The wooden plaque is decorated with a colorful print showing a fox hunting ducks. It bears the handwritten inscription of the winner on the front and inscriptions of the other participants on the back. Shot in Germany in 1931. The target of honor or king's target is a traditional award in shooting competitions. The tradition is predominantly widespread in southern Germany, Austria and Lower Saxony. Honorary targets are donated and shot in honor of a personality, on the occasion of a birthday, a wedding or a prize shooting competition. They were often artistically designed and hand-painted, especially in the 18th and 19th centuries. With the advent of printing technology, targets were also created using artistic prints. artfour is an owner-managed trading company that sells Black Forest wood carvings, antler furniture and an impressive variety of unique decorative items.
