About the Item
French, Circa 1915.
An absolutely exceptional Art Deco trade sign with original milk glass insert. The piece reads "Cigares de Choix" in French, which translates to Choice Cigars or Cigars of Choice.
As an Art Deco sign, this is extremely rare to find in original condition - Most of these bronze frame signs were scrapped during the war, or replaced with the more "showy" Neon signs when they came out. The few surviving had the milk glass inserts broken over time.
Since this was a trade sign, it would originally have had a long hanging bracket which unfortunately was lost over time.
Provenance: Purchased from the estate of a Florida businessman who purchased the sign from a French dealer in the 1970's.
