About the Item

Bullfighting poster. Printed paper, framed. Seville, Spain, towards the second half of the 19th century (1844). It has faults. Bullfighting poster (note the handwritten note with the month of May) for a bullfight to be held on the afternoon of Monday the 12th “of the current month” in the bullring of Seville, better known today as the Maestranza. We are aware of the preservation of another identical poster, in a private collection, dated there in 1844, thanks to a newspaper article (Diario de Sevilla, Sunday 29 October 2000, “Romero debuted in La Pañoleta”, “The Bullfighting Fair of 1847”). · Size: 74x4x58 cm International Buyers – Please Note: for those articles that need Export Permits (those older than 100 years), the obtaining of the Permit will be processed without additional expenses (if you choose the seller sends it to you), but the period for the obtention of it may vary from 10 to 35 days.

Rectangular frame with a textile background that shows three oval miniatures with female portraits, enhanced with gilded bronze frames (the sides are finished with lacework, the central one crowned). The back has two rings at the top to hang the piece on a wall.
