About the Item
Rare collectible wall-hanging plate in porcelain with hand-painted underglazed decoration by famous Norwegian artist Thorolf Holmboe (Norway 1866 – 1935) for Porsgrund Porcelain.
Holmboe's main contribution to the Norwegian art industry lies in the works he carried out during the period 1906–1925 for Porsgrunds Porselænsfabrik.
This stunning piece is possibly a test production from ca. 1910s with a hand-painted motif of 'Polar Bear,' signed by the artist with the initials 'Th. H.' down to the right of the motif. The porcelain stamp with green 'PP' was in use from 1911 to 1935.
