About the Item

This rare set of tiles by Harris Strong, featuring an array of sea shells in tones of apricot, pink and aqua, retain their original frames and linen backings. Strong was the most important and prolific tile artist in the post-World War II era, starting his studio in the Bronx, and later moving his production to Maine, where he retired. This set was a part of his personal collection, and each framed tile includes a certificate to that effect on its back.
