About the Item
Beautifully crafted of walnut, mahogany, beech and other hardwoods, this wood inlay panel depicting a peasant couple was sold as a souvenir in the Transcarpathian region of the Ukraine, probably after World War II. By Jean Beaumont
Located in Philadelphia, PA

The designer was Jean Beaumont, who is known for designing some of the most ambitious and striking of Sevres' Art Deco vases and other pieces in the 1920s and 30s, and the ceramic artist who applied the glazes was Adrien-Auguste Leduc, who worked at Sèvres from 1923 until 1948. Made only two years after the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes was held in Paris, which gave the Art Deco style its name many years later, the theme of this charger -- and its stylized, elongated nudes...
