About the Item
An antique early 20th Century English equestrian three brass leather horse strap. Horse brasses have their origins in ancient Rome, where they were used to embellish horse harnesses, and later became popular in medieval England as a method to showcase wealth or as good luck. Today, they can serve as a unique and charming accent piece for your home. This particular piece has three brasses. The first image is the city of St. Ives, an ancient town in southwest England known for its beaches, art, and rich history. Second is an anchor from Padstow—a fishing town on the coast of Cornwall. The third is King Arthur's Castle Tintagel, a ruined medieval fortress on the clifftops of North Cornwall. This particular landmark appears in both important historical events as well as Arthurian legends.
