About the Item

A very unique and authentic French 19th century Cognac/wine Oak barrel wall decor. This handsome barrel transformed into a wonderful wall decor has all of its original markings, identification tags, copper bands, brass faucet, and mounting brackets. The front of the barrel is decorated by a central 'H' shaped bracket. The authenticity and all original wear makes this wall decor a wonderful and unique decoration for any wine cellar. Cognac ages exclusively in wooden barrels made from a specific type of Oak called "Troncais" or "Limousin". This type of Oak is chosen due to its firm build, its low porosity and of the extractive components that it contains. Oak aging allows for an extremely slow integration of oxygen, which gradually softens the wine and contributes to structural qualities such as tannins imparted from the wood.
