Italian 18th Century White Carrara Marble Crest of the Farnese Family

About the Item

A sensational and large scale Italian 18th Century white Carrara marble crest of the Farnese family. The crest has a wonderful worn finish throughout. The Farnese family was an Italian family that ruled the duchy of Parma and Piacenze in the Renaissance period from 1545 to 1731. The title of Duke of Parma and Piacenza and Duke of Castro were held by various members of the family. Its most important members included Pope Paul III Alessandro Farnese (a cardinal), Alexander Farnese, Duke of Parma and Elisabeth Farnese who became the Queen of Spain.
