Japanese Antique Large Door Abstract Art 1860s-1900s / Wall Decoration Wabi Sabi

About the Item

This is an old Japanese-made sliding door from an old warehouse. It was made during the Meiji period (1860s-1900s) and is a special piece that has passed through a long period of time. Originally, the entire surface of the sliding door was covered with plaster, but with the passage of time, that plaster has peeled off, and now the base of the door is exposed. An iron handle is attached to the central part, quietly testifying to the practicality of the period. The slight amount of plaster remaining on the surface gives the door a unique beauty where the remnants of the past and the present coexist. This sliding door has a unique expression created by chance. The texture of the wood, the peeling plaster, and the traces of time that have accumulated over the years combine to create a beauty that resembles an abstract painting. Since it is already difficult to function as a sliding door, we recommend that you hang it on the wall and enjoy it as an art piece in the modern age. Its quiet presence will add depth to your space and make you feel the spirit of “Wabi Sabi”. Weight: approx. 20 kg ____________________________________ Our Philosophy Objects always tell the truth. All I can do is just to face with them sincerely and give them deep affection as much as I can. There is no boundary of nationalities and of eras in beauty. But I think now is the time we choose 'Japanese style' and it will be the best way to remind us of what we are losing today and to question us about an essence of beauty again. I hope that you can touch the memories which the objects here have, feel and think of something invisible but exists undoubtedly.
