About the Item

This is a wall decoration made from an old Japanese door. It is thought to date from the Edo to Meiji period. It has a simple design and features a lattice frame made at regular intervals. It is likely that it was used with paper or other materials pasted on it. Some of the latticework shows signs of having been damaged and repaired many times, and some of the latticework framework has been joined and reinforced with similar pieces of wood. When used as a door or partition, the lattice frame will create beautiful shadows and add movement to the space. It is also recommended to decorate the wall with the beauty of aging and the beauty of Japanese wabi-sabi. Weight: 5kg
