Japanese Antique Wabi-Sabi Ceramic Wall-hanging Flower Vase 20th Century

About the Item

This is an old wall-mounted ceramic vase made in Japan. It was made in the 20th century and was originally an “octopus pot” used to catch octopus at sea. The metal fittings were added and the vase was modified to be hung on the wall, making it a very unique piece. The surface has been used in the sea for a long time and has naturally weathered and grown into a unique texture created by time. Its roughness and coloring have a depth that cannot be found in man-made objects, and the more you look at it, the more you appreciate it. It cannot be filled directly with water, but by dropping it inside, you can enjoy not only dried flowers but also seasonal plants and flowers. Just by adding a single simple branch, a sense of serenity and depth is created in the space. Its simple and imperfect beauty truly embodies the spirit of “wabi-sabi. This art piece is not only decorative, but also provides a quiet margin in your life. Mouth diameter: approx. 85 mm Weight: 1.8 kg ____________________________________ Our Philosophy Objects always tell the truth. All I can do is just to face with them sincerely and give them deep affection as much as I can. There is no boundary of nationalities and of eras in beauty. But I think now is the time we choose 'Japanese style' and it will be the best way to remind us of what we are losing today and to question us about an essence of beauty again. I hope that you can touch the memories which the objects here have, feel and think of something invisible but exists undoubtedly.
