About the Item

A rare women’s ceremonial dance skirt from the Kuba people of the Democratic Republic of Congo. With a strong artistic textile tradition, the Kuba people inhabit the fertile lands between the Kasai and Sankuru rivers in Sub-Saharan Central Africa. The cloth itself is made from dyed and woven raffia fibres. Now framed in ebonized wooden frames with black mounts.
