About the Item

Mid-century modern signed Scandinavian art pottery wall decoration, which can also function as a large plate or bowl. This piece is known as “the Peacock” and has a very 70's feeling to it and it depicts an abstract bird in the shape of a Peacock, in really nice color, warm grey with hints of blue combined with warm nearly vibrant blue, with Lazur details. At the back there is an imbedded metal wire to be able to safely hang it on the wall. Yet if one so wishes it can also be used as a large plate. It is 3cm (1.18") high and 31cm (12.20") in diameter, it has some micro nicks at the base, underneath the plate, not visible one hanging on the wall or if used as a plate and overall is it in a fantastic condition. The price includes free shipping Nittsjö Ceramics, Sweden Nittsjö ceramics factory is a limited company for the production of earthenware. In 1924, the first ceramic designer Erik Mornils was employed at the factory. In 1933, the Rättvik-born artist Jerk Werkmäster was linked to the factory. Some of their more well-known artists and designers were Jerk Werkmäster, Thomas Hellström and Eliane Westh.

By Rörstrand, Olle Alberius
Located in Skarpnäck, SE
A very nice little vintage ceramic plate, made by the very well-known designer Olle Alberius, known as "Kurbits" from Rörstrand, Sweden. Alberius ceramic always has a special feeling, the shapes are simple, but the glazing is just stunning, the pattern is slightly abstract, yet knowing that Alberius has used a traditional style of folklore decoration known as Kurbits, one can see where he got his inspiration from. All off his objects are individual since they are hand painted. The price includes free shipping. The color is just stunning a dark blue color has been used against a pale gray background and there are also some dark brown and purple details as well as black details. It is around 20cm (7.87") in diameter and 2,5cm (0.98") high. It is in a very good condition. Between the years 1957 - 1965, Olle Alberius worked in Strömstad as a designer at SYCO keramik, where he created a large number of dishes, figurines, vases and bowls. He later works at Rörstrand, and between 1963 and 1965 he was employed at both SYCO keramik and Rörstrand.
