About the Item
Part of Marcin Rusak’s signature Flora collection, Flora Wallhanging Piece 46 constitutes a unique decorative piece that works well in a variety of settings, from classic and romantic to modern and contemporary. Based on discarded flowers carefully submerged in resin, the rectangular piece is entirely handmade in a labour-intensive process, in which everything, from collecting and processing the flowers to encapsulating them in cast resin, and to setting the material in custom-developed stainless steel polished frame, is done by hand. The bas-relief surface of Flora Wallhanging Piece 46 offers a juxtaposition of matte and polished finish that provides a particular depth to the piece. With flowers floating just underneath the surface, it creates a spatial, three-dimensional and complex composition. A resemblance to traditional Flemish still lifes is intentional and almost unavoidable. The artist makes several compositions, and only when the effect is satisfactory does he translate it into the material.
Within the Flora collection, each piece is entirely unique and composed almost like a painting, with the artist selecting the botanical matter based on its sculptural qualities and unique colours. Each piece is fully customisable in a variety of sizes, colours and finishes, from matte (satin) to polished (glossy), and from black to milky white, to various shades of honey, amber, rust and green, as well as fully transparent. The price includes packing and crating in an airfreight wooden fumigated crate provided by the seller.

Marcin Rusak
Marcin Rusak was born in 1987, Warsaw, Polan). Rusak is an artist and multidisciplinary designer interested in ideas of value, ephemerality and aesthetics. Specializing in storytelling, process and material investigation his work often incorporates research, object and installation as well as visual creations to explore overlooked details of our lives, which recreated and re-imagined are shown again in a different light. As the son and grandson of flower growers, he has long been fascinated by these natural sources of inspiration and decoration. Engaging them in his creative process began by reusing waste to investigate new decorative elements within everyday objects and led to a rich body of work ranging from research and storytelling to cultural criticism around consumption and future scenarios.
