Her work, recognized on the international stage, contributes to the enrichment and diversification of Mediterranean cultural expression. She is particularly interested in the oriental world, researching Western perceptions of women in the Arab world. Through a series of self-portraits, Bouderbala explores "that point where the human figure is both flesh and ink," blending Eastern and Western perspectives in her approach to body representation. Her aesthetic vision focuses on the feminine figure, either draped or revealed in its nakedness, through fragility and complexity. Her creations embody sensual choreographies, often with fluid and distorted contours. Since her first solo exhibition in 1987 at the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris, Bouderbala has exhibited in France, Tunisia, and Morocco. She was honored as a Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters in France in 2010 and has won numerous awards, including the Ricard Foundation Prize in 1998 and the Michelin Centenary Prize in 1999. Her work is part of several public and private collections, including the Tunisian Ministry of Culture, the ELF Foundation in Paris, the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris, the French Ministry of Culture, and the Municipality of Valbonne-Sophia Antipolis. * Material : Olive wood, known for its durability and distinctive grain patterns, is a notoriously challenging material to work with. Its hard, dense, and knotty fibers require a long drying and maturing process to ensure the wood reaches its full potential.
