About the Item

Rene Genis Lithograph on BFK Rives paper Number 54/60 Work with signature and individual number Work dimensions 51/65 Unframed work René Genis was a French painter. Known for his translucent use of color in depicting landscapes and still lifes. Genis' work undulates between developed forms and areas of flat color. Born in 1922 in Hue, French Indochina (Vietnam), Genis and his parents moved back to Bordeaux, France when he was still young. He then studied art at the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris under Albert Marquet, where he met other artists and began exhibiting his work. Genis's paintings are mainly in French collections such as the Aix-en-Provence Museum, but are also held internationally at the Yamagata Museum in Tokyo. The artist died in 2004 in Paris. Work done on BFK Rives paper. This popular high-quality graphics paper is molded in France. It has a smooth, absorbent surface. Rives papers, made of 100% cotton, are acid-free, soft and buffered. Le Corbusier Lithograph On paper, Totem
By Le Corbusier
Located in Toronto, ON
This exceptional vintage lithograph is signed in the plate Le Corbusier 1963. It is beautifully mounted in a gold gilt frame and was originally purchased in a prominent Toronto gallery in 1960’s. “Born Charles-Édouard Jeanneret, visionary architect and designer Le Corbusier developed new models for post-industrial urban living. He based his design philosophy on systems of proportion, modularity, and geometry; these principles infiltrated his writing, theory, and painting, as well as urban planning. Though Le Corbusier took inspiration from historical architects such as Vitruvius, Leonardo da Vinci, and Leon Battista Alberti—polymaths who similarly explored the relationship between the body and the built environment—his designs were decidedly modern and unembellished. His buildings have been erected in France, India, Japan, and beyond. As a painter, Le Corbusier co-founded the early 20th-century Purist movement, which dictated that objects should be depicted in their most pared-back forms. He later embraced a more abstract sensibility centered on lines, shadows, and curvilinear shapes. At auction, Le Corbusier’s work has sold for millions...
