About the Item

This mural is made of Gesso tiles in a wood frame. Painter, born in Wisconsin August 22, 1910. By 1930, Hillger settled in Los Angeles. He received his Bachelor's degree from the University of California, Los Angeles art department, and his master's degree in fine arts from University of Southern California. He furthered his education at the Art Center School, Chouinard Art School and a summer of study and painting in Europe. His Los Angeles studio located on Willetta in Hollywood was used for painting custom designed murals, gesso tiles, lacquer technique paintings and high-relief construction painting in a modernist style.
