About the Item
A wonderful and most decorative true pair of Italian 19th century Louis XV st. Giltwood and Pietra Dura marble plaques. This wonderful pair of plaques are framed within a mottled edged oval border with an outer pierced frame accented with foliate carvings. Charming winged mythological creatures decorate the top and bottom of the frame and are flanked by carved oak leaves. At the center are the black Belgian marble backed plaques with Pietra Dura inlays depicting a man and woman. All original gilding throughout.
