About the Item

Exceedingly rare first-year-of-release Japanese 2 Sheet film poster for Jacques Demy's masterful musical Les Parapluies de Cherbourg (Umbrellas of Cherbourg). The Japanese Tatekan (also known as Tatsumi) which translates to a standing or signboard poster were printed in two pieces which were to be pasted together on the bill boards. Far rarer, and more striking than the standard Japanese B2 posters, they are highly collectible. The vintage movie poster was originally printed in two pieces and has been professionally linen-backed. It is sized 20 1/8 x 57 1/2 inches (plus a little more including the linen-backing) and will be sent rolled (unframed).

Candy colors combine to perfection with the adorable Audrey on this charming Japanese B2 poster for a 1969 re-release of the perennially popular 'Breakfast at Tiffany's.' Holly Golightly would be Audrey Hepburn’s defining role, establishing her status as one of the greatest screen legends and style icons of all time. It seems unbelievable now that Truman Capote, author of the novella on which the movie was based, had his heart set on Marilyn Monroe for the part. Monroe pulled out of the running when her acting coach advised her not to play 'a lady of the night...
