Original folding map, mounted on canvas Rare and fascinating map of the city of London published by George Frederick Cruchley, entitled Cruchley's New Plan of London, in this edition improved to January 1, 1840, as indicated in the legend. The map, engraved and printed in color, shows in great detail the urban topography of the English capital, with references to neighborhoods, main streets and monuments, as well as the first railway line. The specimen is mounted on canvas backing, divided into folding panes, as was customary for the time. Excellent condition: paper shows very well, no tears, with only very slight surface creases consistent with age. Open size: 63.5 × 44 cm.Publisher: G.F. Cruchley, 81 Fleet Street, London.Date: 1840.
