Hercules Brabazon Brabazon (1821 Paris - 1906 Sussex)
Modern before his time Hercules Brabazon was a gentleman who travelled widely and painted for pleasure but was recognized by the next generation for his luminous watercolours and use of china white in his atmospheric renderings in Italy, India, North Africa and the Middle East. He cited the influence of Turner and in turn influenced another chronicler of Venice, John Singer Sargent. His work can be found in the Tate, the British Museum, the Courtauld Gallery and the Metropolitan in New York among others.
