Le Grand Véfour was the first grand restaurant in the French capitol and has been a Paris institution since 1784. It is one of the most elegant restaurants in Paris. Its guest list includes: Napoleon and Josephine, Victor Hugo, Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir, Colette and André Malraux. Rolf says of his experience at the famed restaurant, "Chef Guy Martin is so talented. I had lunch there one day in October 2006 and was so spellbound by the beauty and style of the interior and mesmerized by the cuisine that I had a Paris food writer/critic friend of mine arrange with the owner to grant me permission to photograph there. At lunch the courses just kept coming—each new one better than the one before; the service was perfect. On my shoot day I had forty minutes to unpack my equipment, light the room, do test shots, take the pictures, pack my equipment and get out before lunch service started. It is sensational and I cannot wait to dine there again."
