From the series with which Paul Fusco gained world fame: RFK Funeral Train, 1968, A series of photographs from 1968 of mourners, along the railway line where the train with the coffin of the assassinated Senator Robert F. Kennedy passed by. Fusco was given exclusive access to photograph aboard the train with Kennedy's body, driving along the East Coast, from NYC to Washington, DC. More than two million people lined the tracks to catch a glimpse of Kennedy's coffin; the diversity, the sheer numbers, reflects the terrible loss, felt all walk in and disappeared from their lives of life, across the country. The blow was monumental. Hope-on-the-rise was shattered again, and the people crowded around the railroad of Bobby's last train, bewildered, in disbelief, watching as hope passed.
