About the Item
Original antique advertising poster for the 40th anniversary retrospective art exhibition in Milan of the Famiglia Artistica / Artistic Family 1873 1913 showing contemporary works of paintings and sculptures by artists of the Milanese Artistic Family association. Great design by the Italian painter Andrea Fossombrone (1886-1963) featuring two semi-nude ladies sitting next to a tree and holding up a basket of colourful flowers with the stylised text in a banner in front of the tree and in an information box below surrounded by a decorative border. Famiglia Artistica was founded by the Italian painter Vespasiano Bignami (1841-1929) in 1873; the association is still active today. Printed by Officine Chiattone Milan. The poster features an original snipe where the exhibition dates were replaced. Fair condition, restored tears, folds and losses on margins and in image, backed on linen.
