Audrey Hepburn 'Funny Face' Original Vintage British Quad Movie Poster, 1957

About the Item

With the quippy tagline 'Audrey's Hep!' (jazz slang for a real cool cat), an effervescent Audrey Hepburn takes centre stage on this exceedingly rare British Quad poster for the original release of much loved 1957 musical 'Funny Face.' Loosely based on photographer Richard Avedon's early career, the film saw Hepburn play a studious Greenwich Village bookseller, whisked off to Paris by fashion photographer Fred Astaire and transformed into a high fashion model. In a frothy finale, the pair dance in the grounds of a Chantilly chapel before drifting away on a raft to the strains of Gershwin's 'S'wonderful.' Together with an ethereal profile portrait of the gamine star, sketched Parisian scenes of the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe, and a tip-tapping Astaire, the poster art pictured Audrey performing the film's 'Basal Metabolism' dance routine - an interpretive avant-garde number performed solo by Hepburn in a smoky beatnik jazz cafe in head to toe black, save for white socks to highlight her dancing feet against the vibrant lipstick-red ground. CONDITION Archivally backed on linen with no restoration. Prior to backing the poster had three vertical and three horizontal folds, with some creasing and tiny splits to the right vertical, a whisper of fine surface loss to the left vertical, the most minor edge wear in margins, and lightly soiled pinholes to three corners. Backing has smoothed and diminished the folds and minor imperfections for display. A stunning poster in beautiful original condition, the colours bold and bright. Printed by Charles & Read Ltd., London and Harlow.

James Bond 'Goldfinger' Original Vintage British Quad Movie Poster, 1964
Located in Devon, GB
Considered the quintessential and definitive Bond film, the third instalment in EON Productions' James Bond series set the template for many of the subsequent films, with its tongue in cheek humour, extensive use of gadgets and technology and multiple foreign locations. The first Bond blockbuster, 1964's 'Goldfinger' was also the first Bond film to utilise a standalone pre-credits sequence, the first to employ a pop star to sing the theme song and the first to win an Academy Award. The plot saw 007 uncover a plot to contaminate the United States gold reserve at Fort Knox while investigating the smuggling activities of powerful gold magnate Auric Goldfinger. The film's lasting image is of the gold-painted girl, featured here on the sought after 'Style A' British Quad poster for the original UK release in 1964. Robert Brownjohn...

Audrey Hepburn 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' Original Movie Poster, Japanese, 1969
Located in Devon, GB
Candy colors combine to perfection with the adorable Audrey on this charming Japanese B2 poster for a 1969 re-release of the perennially popular 'Breakfast at Tiffany's.' Holly Golightly would be Audrey Hepburn’s defining role, establishing her status as one of the greatest screen legends and style icons of all time. It seems unbelievable now that Truman Capote, author of the novella on which the movie was based, had his heart set on Marilyn Monroe for the part. Monroe pulled out of the running when her acting coach advised her not to play 'a lady of the night...
