About the Item
Very rare original German poster for This American silent epic adventure film directed by Fred Niblo and was based on the novel of the same name. The film stars Ramon Novarro in the title role. The film tells the story of Judah Ben-Hur, a Jewish prince, who was wrongly imprisoned as a result of his boyhood friend Messala's corrupt ways. Judah Ben-Hur is sent off as a galley slave, and his mother and sister are imprisoned. Owing to Judah Ben-Hur's tenacity to stay alive, he returns to his homeland, and not able to find his mother and sister, who he believes are dead, he takes revenge against Messala.
This beautiful stone lithograph German poster is exceptionally rare, with only a couple of examples having surfaced to-date. There is a German censor stamp on the top right dated 1925. This poster is now a true antique as it celebrates its 100th anniversary this year.
designed to advertise DC Comics, featuring Batman and Robin printed on one sheet. It was designed to be cut in half and pasted up on billboards. This example is uncut and features the Dynamic Duo side by side.
This poster is conservation linen backed and it would be shipped rolled in a very strong tube and sent by Federal Express.
