About the Item
We love Josef Vyletal's wonderfully surreal design for the Czech film poster for Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds. Superb styling evocative of Italian renaissance art with Vyletal channeling Botticelli or Raphael! An extremely rare, especially in the larger Czech size, first-year-of-release poster for Hitchcock's seminal horror. In fantastic condition.
Like their neighbours in Poland, the designers of the Czech Republic, free from commercial constraints and enjoying far greater artistic freedom than their Western counterparts, treated film poster design as an art form. The result is an immensely powerful, wildly original and beautiful body of work.
This original vintage movie poster is sized 22 3/4 x 32. It will be sent rolled (unframed).
