Additional Details:
The Château de Saumur is a castle located in the Loire Valley, in Maine et Loire, at the confluence of the Loire and the Thouet. It is a castle from the Medieval and Renaissance period.
Today, the castle is a museum of decorative arts as well as that of horse harnessing.
On the poster, women wash their laundry in the Loire, on the bank opposite the castle. The castle is in the background. We can see its ramparts overlooking the city.
Constant Duval is a French painter, poster artist and draftsman. From 1910 until the nationalization of the French railways in 1937, he created a lot of posters for the companies exploiting the various networks. He is one of the most sought-after illustrators of this era for such posters, such as Roger Broders.
