About the Item

A rare British advance Double Crown poster for John Woo's 1997 face-swapping sci-fi action thriller 'Face/Off,' starring John Travolta and Nicholas Cage as arch enemies who undergo experimental surgery to assume each other's faces and identities in a cat-and-mouse game between FBI agent and terrorist. With Travolta enjoying a post 'Pulp Fiction' career resurgence and Cage fresh from big blockbuster action flicks 'The Rock' and 'Con Air,' the two stars were such hot property in 1997 that they were identified simply by their surnames on this striking and surprisingly stylish British advance poster, which featured by far the best poster design issued for this movie. Despite the absurd premise, the outrageous role-reversed performances - with Travolta playing Cage impersonating Travolta and vice versa - were critically acclaimed, along with director John Woo's spectacularly over the top action sequences. Although released in the UK on 7th November 1997, a cinema snipe along the bottom of this poster advertised a special advance preview on Thursday 6th November.

'Scarface' Original Vintage Australian One Sheet Movie Poster, 1984
Located in Devon, GB
Considered to be one of the best gangster films ever made, 'Scarface' follows the rise and fall of Cuban refugee Tony Montana (Al Pacino) as he becomes the biggest drug lord in 1980s Miami. Directed by Brian De Palma and written by Oliver Stone, the cast also featured Michelle Pfeiffer in her breakthrough role as coke-addict mob wife Elvira Hancock. The film's excessive violence, profanity and scenes of graphic drug usage were met with a negative critical response on initial release, but subsequent reappraisal has established 'Scarface' as a cult classic. A loose remake of the 1932 film of the same name, De Palma dedicated his version to Howards Hawks and Ben Hecht...
