French political advertising poster for the Republican Party for Liberty (P.R.L).
We see a chicken and a sheep as well as a sinner, the text prompts the reader to vote not to be plucked like a chicken or shorn like a sheep.
The PRL was founded on December 22, 1945 by Joseph Laniel, André Mutter, Édouard Frédéric-Dupont, Charles Vallin and Jules Ramarony.
Coming from a first grouping of moderates at the Liberation, entitled "Social and anti-fascist rally", the PRL wanted to bring together a totally discredited right. This attempt was a failure, most of the leaders of the right having wanted to preserve their autonomy or to try to make continue political apparatuses resulting from the Third Republic, like the Democratic Alliance, the Republican Federation or the Party of the French reconciliation.
Moderate (refusing the label of "right", it declares itself "centrist"), the party advocates the association between bosses and workers. Opposed to trusts, he admits state intervention in the economy but is not in favor of nationalizations.
From 1947, many internal dissensions appeared on the question of the campaign for amnesty led by André Mutter. The PRL also faces competition from the Rassemblement du peuple français (RPF).
During the legislative elections of 1951, the PRL was finally absorbed by the National Center for Independents and Peasants.

Gitanes is a brand of cigarettes produced by Seita, a subsidiary of the Imperial Brands group, created in 1910 at the same time as the Gauloises brand.
In 2014, part of its production was relocated to Poland following the closure of the Seita plant in Nantes.
The first Gitanes packages were designed in 1927 by Maurice Giot. This one represents Spanish symbols like the tambourine, a fan, and oranges.
