About the Item

Goldfinger (1964) - FRAMED Photo Still (8 X 10 Inches) Original Vintage Theatrical Still #G-30. Connery & Frobe in 'No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die' scene! That’s the classic exchange between British Secret Service agent James Bond and arch-villain Auric Goldfinger as a laser beam begins to inch up the gold-plated table on which Bond is bound, threatening his private parts. And it was in this iconic scene in the 1964 film, “Goldfinger,” that audiences first learned about lasers. This original black-and-white theatrical still captures the single most iconic moment in the James Bond franchise—Sean Connery as 007, strapped to a gold-plated table, while Gert Frobe’s Auric Goldfinger looms above with a deadly industrial laser aimed between Bond’s legs. Still #G-30 was part of United Artists’ official 1964 press kit for cinemas, promoting the release of Goldfinger, the film that catapulted Bond from cult espionage thriller to global cinematic phenomenon. The scene not only defined the tone of Bond films for decades to come—witty, stylish, and ruthlessly inventive—it also introduced mainstream audiences to the concept of lasers as futuristic weapons. Cultural Significance: Goldfinger (1964) wasn’t just the third Bond film—it was the blueprint for every Bond that followed. It introduced the Aston Martin DB5, the villain’s lair, the henchman with a gimmick (Oddjob), and perfected the Bond formula: gadgets, girls, global stakes, and razor-sharp one-liners. It turned Sean Connery into an international icon, transformed Bond into a billion-dollar franchise, and made espionage cinema infinitely more glamorous, stylish, and tongue-in-cheek.
