Original vintage travel poster for Imperial Airways: An Ensign Air Liner for Empire Services two decks 200 mph 20 tons featuring a great technical drawing of a Ensign Air Liner plane flying over what looks like the Suez Canal with a small town and a mosque below, the drawing showing the different sections and passengers inside the plane, including the cockpit and pilots, smoking cabin, midship and aft cabins with their sleeping berths, promenade deck, lavatories, kitchen and other facilities, the information text below on a green background with the speedbird logo, Imperial Airways - Europe Africa India The Far East Australia Bermuda New York, in bold white lettering. Artwork by the British artist and illustrator James Gardner (James "Leslie" Gardner; 1908-1995). Printed in Great Britain by Ben Johnson & Co. Ltd and published in England by Imperial Airways Ltd, London. Horizontal. Very good condition, restored losses and tears in the bottom margin, minor tears in the top margin, backed on linen.
