Original antique tire advertising poster for La Souple Corde Goodrich Le Maitre de la Route/The Master of the Roads featuring a great illustration depicting a smartly dressed coachman wearing a wig and holding his hat and whip, bowing to a large tyre on a mountain path with his horse drawn carriage behind them, the stylised lettering formed by a rope on the blue sky above, a decorative rope border on the side leading down past the trees and mountains to the text in French below - La Route a change de maitre Celui d'autrefois s'incline devant celui d'aujourd'hui /The road has changed masters The one of yesteryear bows to the one of today. The American company Goodrich was founded in 1870 as BF Goodrich named after its founder Dr. Benjamin Franklin Goodrich; in 1990 the Goodrich Corporation's tire division was bought by the French company Michelin and its remaining manufacturing businesses were acquired by United Technologies Corporation in 2012. Artwork apres Raoul Guinot. Printed by B. Sirven, Toulouse Paris. Large Size. Good condition, folds, repaired tears, minor staining, backed on linen.
