About the Item
Original vintage arthouse cinema poster for the UK release of the 1966 experimental avant garde film directed by Andy Warhol (1928-1987) and Paul Morrissey (b 1938) - for the first time in this country in its original continuous version running for 3 1/2 hours on two screens uncut Andy Warhol's Chelsea Girls - featuring the iconic black and white design by the British artist and illustrator Alan Aldridge (b 1943) depicting windows and a door to the Hotel Chelsea in New York City on the naked body of a young lady looking out to the viewer with people in each window and the stylised title text in white below with the performance information: 16-19 23-26 October 7pm to midnight Arts Laboratory 182 Drury Lane London WC2. Poster sold with accompanying certificate of authenticity from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. Good condition, creasing, staining, ink stamp on reverse.
