Original vintage advertising poster for BBC Programmes on Hobbies and do-it-yourself featuring black silhouettes of paint tubes, artist palette, etching and engraving equipment, cinematography film reel, drawing and ink pens, hammer and crafting tools, knitting, sewing needle and thread with text above the image - Use your leisure creatively. Hobbies, pastimes and the do-it-yourself movement cover an enormous range of activities anything from paperhanging to archaeology, from ships in bottles to rejuvenating old motor cars. BBC broadcasts in radio and television on these leisure activities show by the size of their audiences that most of us like to exploit the talents which go unused in the ordinary way. In their spare time engine drivers become electricians, schoolboys sculptors; housewives build boats and typists telescopes.
