About the Item

Ceramic shelf from Nove di Bassano with flowers and fair, hand-painted by Gian Battista Viero and made in the 19th century. Restorations have been carried out as shown in the pictures. Ø cm 22 Ø cm 12 h cm 26 Giovan Battista Viero was an important potter active in Nove di Bassano in the 18th and 19th centuries. Its manufactory is known for producing high-quality artistic ceramics with elaborate decorations and vibrant colors. Productions include everyday objects, such as plates and vases, as well as figurines and fine decorative objects. The Viero manufactory is known for the production of majolica and earthenware. "GBV" marks, with or without crowns, are the marks found under the bases of the products. Nove di Bassano, in the province of Vicenza, is a center of ceramic production that has been active since the 17th century. Nove's ceramic tradition is characterized by a wide variety of styles and techniques, ranging from majolica to porcelain to earthenware. Over the centuries, Nove's ceramics have won international fame for their quality and beauty. Nove's ceramics are distinguished by the fineness of their decorations, the vibrancy of their colors, and the variety of their shapes. Among the most recurrent subjects are floral motifs, landscapes, mythological scenes, and allegorical figures. Production includes everyday objects, such as tableware and vases, as well as statues and fine decorative objects.
